Britney Spears has shared a cryptic post to her Instagram alongside a series of images of her wearing a snakesuit.
The singer shocked fans by calling herself a snake, writing, “I held a snake at the @VMAs one time but decided to go ahead 20 years later and become the motherf****ing snake”.
She added, “And since TRICKS ARE FOR KIDS you tricky little sh*ts … who knows what color snake I will be tomorrow.
The caption ended, “!!!!??? STAY SAFE folks and watch out for snakes!!!!!”.
Several fans expressed their confusion at Britney’s bizarre post.
One person commented, “Well this ain’t strange at all Britt. Hope you’re released from your cage soon.”

Another asked, “Are you really okay?”
One fan even doubted the post was written by Spears declaring, “This cannot be Britney writing that.”
Others seemed worried for the star, with one sharing, ‘I’m concerned” and another asking, “Britney, what does this mean?”
Spears made reference to her well-known performance at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards where she performed her single, I’m A Slave 4U with a live python on her shoulders.
The 39-year-old’s Instagram post comes as she prepares to appear in court regarding her longstanding and much-publicised conservatorship case. The singer is set to “address the court directly” on June 23 in Los Angeles.
The appearance will be the first time in years that Spears has stood before a court.
Spears has been managed by a controversial conservatorship since 2008 and back in April, Spears requested for her father’s conservatorship to be removed.
The case surrounding the conservatorship has been well-publicised since the documentary Framing Britney Spears was broadcast in February of this year. The documentary only exacerbated the concerns of Britney fans, who have raised questions about whether the court’s orders are taking her best interests into account.
