Meghan Markle has written her first book, a children’s story inspired by Prince Harry and their son, Archie.
The 40-page book, The Bench, tells the story of the eternal bond between father and son, witnessed in the eyes of a mother.
Artwork was posted by publisher Penguin Random House UK today, showing the cover and two inside pages, which were illustrated by US illustrator Christian Robinson.
It features a diverse group of fathers and their growing boys, connecting as they enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
The 39-year-old royal’s title is ‘Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex’ in the author credits.
“The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story,” Meghan said.
Meghan added, “Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life.
“This representation was particularly important to me and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.
“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the make up, as much as it does with me.”
Meghan will also narrate the audiobook.
The Bench, which costs $24, will be released June 8.
It comes as the couple’s first child Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is set to turn two tomorrow.
Meghan and Harry, 36, are expecting their second child, a girl, in coming months, who will be born at their new home in California unlike Archie, who was born in London.
While this is the first time Meghan has released a book, the former Suits actress previously wrote for her lifestyle blog, The Tig, before she began dating Prince Harry in 2016.
She also penned a powerful piece for the New York Times when she suffered a miscarriage last year.
Meghan and Harry are also busy producing content for their rumoured $190 million Netflix and Spotify deal, with their first project a docuseries about the Invictus Games, which Harry started in 2014.
