Chantalle Aubertin is the new press secretary for Justice Minister David Lametti, vacating her previous position as press secretary to Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna. Aubertin previously worked as communications and issues adviser to McKenna from November 2019 to January 2020, and was also a ministerial aide to the minister in 2018 to 2019 while McKenna was minister of Environment and Climate Change.
Aubertin is also currently pursuing a master of social work from Wilfrid Laurier University.
In a Twitter post on May 29, Aubertin said that under McKenna she had worked for a “fearless, determined, and resilient leader.”
McKenna returned the warm sentiments in a tweet on the same day, declaring that Aubertin “worked hard day in and day out, always with a smile and with kindness, to make sure we delivered.”
To iPolitics, Aubertin commented that “It has been an absolute privilege working on Minister McKenna’s team and I will be forever grateful for her mentorship. I am very happy to have joined Minister Lametti’s team and look forward to working with reporters on this important file.”
Tahiya Bakht became regional adviser for Ontario at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in April after leaving her former position as deputy director of policy to Health Minister Patty Hajdu. Her professional experience includes a number of positions with a focus on Ontario: as regional adviser for Ontario for Canada’s minister of Employment, Workforce Development, and Labour from 2016 to 2018; as office manager for the Ontario Ministry of Education from 2015 to 2016; and as special assistant, Ontario affairs for the Liberal Research Bureau in 2016. She has also interned with the Government of Ontario and Office of the Premier.
Bakht replaced Angad Dhillon, who moved from the PMO to become director of operations at Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra’s office in March.
