The Spaniard is hoping to lead the Toffees into their new stadium in three years time, and is aware that, to do so, he will need to have had quite the impact at Goodison Park
Rafa Benitez says his aim is to lead Everton into their new stadium, because that would mean he had won the love of fans – and won trophies.
The Spanish coach pulled no punches in his first press conference as the new manager of the Goodison club, spelling out an ambitious plan, after assuring his owners he can deliver honours.
And he knows he will have to do that before the Blues head into their new state of the art stadium being built in Liverpool ’s famous dockland, which is due to be completed in 2024.
And laid out his three year plan to win hearts by winning silverware when he said: “Yes I’ve thought about leading Everton out at the new stadium – I’d be really pleased because it would mean we are doing well and we have been a success.

“For the club and the fans as well it is a massive, massive situation – we will go to the new stadium and it will change everything in terms of the stature of the club.
“In terms of the perception from outside also, and in terms of the revenue you can get from that, it would be great opportunity to have the chance to be there.
“I would be so pleased, and hopefully it would be good news for everyone because it would mean we are winning.”
Benitez explained that he has been given assurances from the club’s owner Fardhad Moshiri and influential sponsor Alisher Usmanov that he will be backed to deliver trophies.
And he insisted he will transform the club by delivering a winning mentality: “I have had many discussions with some senior players and I am really pleased.
“They are all ambitious and they realised that something is missing – for me that is a winning mentality.
“You need that from the first day to the last day. I am confident we will do it. We will be pushing, pushing that.”
