In case you missed it, the first round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft took place on Sunday night. The Pittsburgh Pirates held the No. 1 overall choice and went with a surprise pick in Louisville catcher Henry Davis. That selection let arguably the best pitcher in the draft, Vanderbilt’s Jack Leiter, fall to the Texas Rangers at #2. Leiter’s teammate, Kumar Rocker, who himself was once in the conversation for the top choice, fell all the way to the Mets at No. 10. The rest of the first-round choices can be found here. The selection process concludes on Tuesday, with coverage of rounds 11-20 on MLB.com.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. MLB has been holding its annual draft since 1965. Over that period, many of the No. 1 overall selections have gone on to have illustrious careers, while others have been complete busts. Davis is hoping his name eventually falls in the former category. So with that in mind, how many of them can you name in eight minutes?
